{"id":574308,"date":"2020-12-10T15:13:16","date_gmt":"2020-12-10T20:13:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/football\/?p=574308"},"modified":"2021-04-08T21:46:19","modified_gmt":"2021-04-09T01:46:19","slug":"football-fans-of-tier-3-non-league-clubs-allowed-to-return","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/football\/2020\/12\/10\/football-fans-of-tier-3-non-league-clubs-allowed-to-return\/","title":{"rendered":"Football Fans of Tier 3 Non League Clubs Allowed to Return"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A limited number of football fans will be allowed to attend matches involving clubs in Tier 3 areas, the FA and Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport have confirmed.<\/p>\n<h2>Fans Allowed to Return to Watch Tier 3 Football<\/h2>\n<h3>Limited Fan Numbers Also Allowed Into Women&#8217;s Football and FA Vase Matches<\/h3>\n<p>A limited number of fans had previously been allowed to attend matches hosted by clubs in Tier 1 and Tier 2 areas.<\/p>\n<p>And supporters will now be able to return to football matches hosted by clubs in Tier 3 areas &#8211; although it still excludes &#8216;elite&#8217; clubs.<\/p>\n<p>Clubs competing in steps 3-6 of the National League System and tiers 3-6 of the Women&#8217;s Football Pyramid will be permitted to accommodate up to 15 per cent of their ground capacity.<\/p>\n<p>Teams competing in the Buildbase FA Vase will also be allowed to have up to 15 per cent of their ground in attendance.<\/p>\n<p>Supporters will also be allowed to attend FA Trophy matches &#8211; but only if the tie is between two &#8216;non-elite&#8217; clubs.<\/p>\n<p>All fixtures involving &#8216;elite clubs&#8217; in Tier 3 areas will remain behind closed doors.<\/p>\n<h3>Safety Precautions Continue as Football Fans Return to Non-League in Tier 3<\/h3>\n<p>Clubs are advised to liaise with their Local Authority to agree on a capacity before fans may return.<\/p>\n<p>Clubs reported for breaching spectator limits, or reported for a lack of social distancing, could face returning to behind closed doors.<\/p>\n<p>National League side <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dorsetecho.co.uk\/sport\/18924174.weymouth-fc-reduced-capacity-next-home-game-minority-fans-let-club-badly\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Weymouth made local headlines<\/a> after fans of the Step 1 side &#8220;let the club down badly&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>During the game, which was broadcast live on BT Sport, fans were seen breaking social distancing.<\/p>\n<p>A section of the club&#8217;s supporters also reportedly brought alcohol into the ground, and some ignored the smoking ban.<\/p>\n<p>It means the Dorset-based club, who are currently in Tier 2, will have their capacity reduced further as a result.<\/p>\n<p>Main Photo<\/p>\n<p><a id=\"f9cbqiriQAB4-nw3h3-g-w\" class=\"gie-single\" style=\"color: #a7a7a7; text-decoration: none; font-weight: normal !important; border: none; display: inline-block;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.gettyimages.co.uk\/detail\/1270214460\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Embed from Getty Images<\/a><script>window.gie=window.gie||function(c){(gie.q=gie.q||[]).push(c)};gie(function(){gie.widgets.load({id:'f9cbqiriQAB4-nw3h3-g-w',sig:'gjjtzxXlRgGBmHSfl6-wEuvxz7wyW_6KJvkAA0rBKhw=',w:'594px',h:'396px',items:'1270214460',caption: true ,tld:'co.uk',is360: false })});<\/script><script src='\/\/embed-cdn.gettyimages.com\/widgets.js' charset='utf-8' async><\/script><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A limited number of football fans will be allowed to attend matches involving clubs in Tier 3 areas, the FA and Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport have confirmed.
