Jetro Willems<\/a> could sign a Newcastle United<\/a> pre-contract deal as he rejects a new Eintracht Frankfurt contract, according to the Chronicle<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Willems Pre-Contract Deal Could See Summer Return to Toon<\/h3>\n

Willems’ contract expires in the summer, but he will reportedly not sign on again for Eintracht Frankfurt. Instead, Willems could sign a pre-contract deal with Newcastle one suitable destination for the player.<\/p>\n

The player’s agent Sigi Lens said:<\/p>\n

“Jetro felt very comfortable at Newcastle and he said he felt like it was home, so of course he would be happy to go back if the chance came up.”<\/p>\n

“He is fully fit and ready to play now.”<\/p>\n

The left-sided wing-back suffered a long term knee injury on loan at Newcastle in January and has not played for his current club Eintracht Frankfurt since.<\/p>\n

Willems was a solid player for Newcastle during his loan spell, involved in every match. But his injury brought short what could have been a successful season.<\/p>\n

The 26-year-old scored twice in the league in 19 appearances. His first goal could have caused a big upset when he put his team ahead against Liverpool<\/a>, before the Reds’ comeback.<\/p>\n

A penchant for scoring against giants, he netted a vital goal in the 2-2 draw against Manchester City<\/a> in November last year.<\/p>\n

Whilst Lens claims the player is fit, there might be some worry regarding his knee injury. But even if Willems signs a pre-contract deal in January, he will have the rest of the Bundesliga season to regain full match fitness.<\/p>\n

Eventually he may return to the North East, where he can back up Matt Ritchie<\/a> and Jamal Lewis<\/a> on the left side.<\/p>\n
