Southampton striker Danny Ings<\/a> has returned to training<\/a> after spending over a month out with a knee injury.<\/p>\n

The England international missed the last three matches to undergo minor knee surgery which he suffered in the 4-3 victory at Aston Villa<\/a> before the international break.<\/p>\n

Hasenhuttl Has Say<\/h3>\n

But boss Ralph Hasenhuttl is yet to decide whether Ings is to play a part in Monday\u2019s game against Brighton at the Amex Stadium.<\/p>\n

He had said this<\/a> before last weekend\u2019s game against Manchester United<\/a>: \u201cDanny is back in individual training on the pitch, so I think he can be an option for the Brighton<\/a> game, which is moved to Monday now.\u201d<\/p>\n

In Contention<\/h3>\n

The move to Monday looks to have done the Saints a favour and the Austrian manager gave an update on his star striker when he spoke to the media at his pre-match press conference<\/a>: \u201cwe must have a look. Yesterday was the first time he was training with the team.<\/p>\n

“He looks good. We must look at how his body reacts to the training and then we can say more.<\/p>\n

“But it looked good yesterday, yes.”<\/p>\n

High Flying Saints<\/h4>\n

The 28-year old has netted five goals in seven Premier League<\/a> games this season and was missed by his side. A win over Newcastle<\/a>, a draw to Wolves<\/a> and a dramatic late defeat to Manchester United saw the Saints pick up four points in three games in his absence. Southampton were ahead against United thanks to Jan Bednarek<\/a> and a James Ward-Prowse<\/a> free-kick. But a late comeback from the Manchester side saw Edinson Cavani<\/a> net twice and steal all three points.<\/p>\n

Theo Walcott<\/a> and Che Adams<\/a> have deputised in place of the England international who scored 22 goals last season by playing more through the middle but the comeback of Ings is sure to bring a better dynamic to the Saints.<\/p>\n

Southampton currently occupy a high 6th<\/sup> place and will be buoyed by the return of their star player.<\/p>\n
