Jurgen Klopp has said that he would be ‘happy’ to see Georginio Wijnaldum<\/a> remain at Liverpool.<\/p>\n

The Dutch midfielder is out of contract at the end of the season, but Klopp believes that everything is possible.<\/p>\n

Wijnaldum has been a key member of the Reds’ line-up since joining in 2016. However, the five-year contract that he signed on arrival is now close to expiring.<\/p>\n

Klopp, though, is not concerned about the situation and has praised the Dutchman for his work ethic and professionalism.<\/p>\n

“As long as nothing is decided everything is possible,” said the Liverpool boss when speaking to BBC Sport<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“I would be happy if he would stay here. I am pretty happy with Gini as you can see when you look at most of the line-ups.”<\/p>\n

The 30-year-old has been a mainstay in Klopp’s line-up so far this season. He has featured in 15 of the Reds’ 16 games so far this season, and while he has failed to register a goal or assist, the Dutchman continuously earns praise for his work ethic at the heart of the midfield.<\/p>\n

Wijnaldum is often praised for exceptional pass completion rates. In nine Premier League games so far this season, he has made on average 47.1 passes<\/a> per game, completing an impressive 91% of them. The Dutchman may not contribute regular in terms of goals and assists, but he is the focal point of attacks.<\/p>\n

The 30-year-old was linked with a move away in the summer, and while he is free to negotiate with other clubs from January 1, his manager does not believe that his work rate will drop.<\/p>\n

When asked about the situation compares to the one of Emre Can – who let his contract with the club run down in a similar fashion – Klopp said: “[Can] played and he gave his absolute everything until the last day of his contract and Gini will do the same, no doubt about that.<\/p>\n

“Gini is one of the best people I have ever met and he is one of the best players I’ve ever trained.<\/p>\n

“There is no issue, no issue at all.”<\/p>\n
