Scunthorpe United<\/a> defender Jacob Bedeau<\/a> is attracting interest from several Championship<\/a> sides, according to The Athletic’s Gregg Evans<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Former Aston Villa<\/a>\u00a0U23s captain Bedeau has impressed in League Two<\/a> this season despite Scunthorpe\u2019s struggles. A host of Championship sides hold a torch for the 20-year-old centre back.<\/p>\n

According to Evans, a move for Bedeau could be made in January with Scunthorpe yet to offer the defender a new contract.<\/p>\n

Jacob Bedeau Is Attracting Interest From Several Championship Sides<\/h2>\n

Bedeau Has Impressed Despite The Iron\u2019s Struggles This Season<\/h3>\n

Despite Scunthorpe\u2019s slow start to life under new manager Neil Cox, Bedeau has impressed and has made 13 appearances this season. He also scored in the Iron\u2019s recent away win at Oldham Athletic<\/a>. That performance earned him a place in the League Two team of the week.<\/p>\n

Bedeau began his career with Bury before moving to Aston Villa in January 2017 for \u00a31 million when he was just 17 years of age. He impressed at Villa captaining their U23 side on several occasions. However, Bedeau didn\u2019t make a senior appearance for Villa under Steve Bruce or Dean Smith. Consequently, he left the Premier League<\/a> side two years later to join Scunthorpe United.<\/p>\n

He is an extremely talented centre back with his best years to come. Regular game time has allowed him to showcase his abilities and unsurprisingly, that has attracted interest from other teams. It could a four-way fight for the 20-year-old with Huddersfield Town<\/a>, Rotherham United<\/a>, Luton Town<\/a> and Barnsley<\/a> all monitoring his development. All four clubs are keeping an eye on his situation with Scunthorpe yet to open contract negotiations.<\/p>\n

A move to the Championship could happen in January if his situation isn\u2019t resolved or the two parties cannot reach an agreement.<\/p>\n

A Big Step up for the Defender Should a Championship Side Make Their Move<\/h3>\n

While Bedeau has expressed his qualities at League Two level, the step up to the Championship will be huge for the 20-year-old. It is a major step up in quality and style of football.<\/p>\n

Bedeau will relish the challenge should the move become a reality. But for now, he will continue to knuckle down and help his current side climb the League Two table.<\/p>\n
