Frank Lampard has claimed that he was impressed<\/a> with Chelsea’s<\/a> level of control and standard of performance in their 2-0 win over Newcastle United.<\/a><\/p>\n

Frank Lampard Takes Blues Top<\/h3>\n

The Chelsea boss has managed to take his team to first place in the Premier League<\/a> table with the win today (albeit whether they stay there hinges on the results of various games across the course of this weekend), and they have lost just once so far this season.<\/p>\n

In fact, they have not lost in any of their last five league games.<\/p>\n

It was another emphatic win for the Blues today, as they secured the 2-0 victory over Newcastle.<\/p>\n

Abraham Bags Another Goal<\/h3>\n

It wasn’t a Chelsea player who opened the scoring though, rather a Federico Fernandez<\/a> own goal that caused Lampard\u2019s side to take an early lead in the game.<\/p>\n

Despite dominating possession, it took until 25 minutes from time for Frank Lampard’s side to wrap it up as Tammy Abraham<\/a> slotted the ball into the back of the net.<\/p>\n

Lampard: “I’m Very Pleased”<\/h3>\n

Speaking after the game, Lampard was quick to sing his players\u2019 praises. He said to\u00a0the club’s official website<\/a>:\u00a0“We played well, it\u2019s not an easy game for us coming here against a very organised team.<\/p>\n

“It was great to get the early goal, that changes the aspect of it, but the second one was then so important and we obviously had chances to get that earlier.\u00a0Even after that we could maybe score again, but we can\u2019t have it all our own way.<\/p>\n

“There are days where you aren\u2019t quite at it in front of goal, then we put the game away very well I thought in our professional performance.<\/p>\n

“We played well in patches and the result is key in these games because the Premier League is tough. It\u2019s relentless and after the break where we were playing well and everyone goes in their own directions and comes back.<\/p>\n

“I thought the lads dealt with the challenge of the game very well today, so I\u2019m very pleased.”<\/p>\n

Lampard will now look ahead to his side’s next game against Rennes in the Champions League<\/a>.<\/p>\n
