Newcastle United<\/a> manager Steve Bruce<\/a> has labelled the agent of Miguel Almiron<\/a> as a “two-bob amateur\u201d seeking to \u201cmake a fast buck,” in comments reported by The Guardian<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Daniel Campos, Almiron’s agent, has reportedly said that his client wants to leave Newcastle in an interview with Paraguayan radio. The former Manchester United<\/a> defender did not respond kindly when asked about these comments.<\/p>\n

Bruce Unhappy With Comments Made<\/h3>\n

It could be a tense future for Miguel Almiron at Newcastle after Steve Bruce voiced his dismay with his agent’s reported comments.<\/p>\n

This may negatively affect Almiron’s playing time. He has been a semi-regular this season, starting four of Newcastle’s seven league games. Rafael Benitez signed the forward in January 2019, and he’s struggled to hit the heights so far this campaign. The forward hasn’t scored a goal, but he did provide one assist in the Premier League<\/a>.<\/p>\n

However, his agent reportedly claimed in the interview that Almiron would be at Inter Milan or Atletico Madrid if not for the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n

Bruce didn’t take kindly to that suggestion: “The quotes were so outrageous, it was bordering on the ridiculous,\u201d said Bruce.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe agent proves to me he is an amateur looking to make a fast buck, which is pretty ridiculous. An agent who, two years in, is probably trying to profit again and take him somewhere else is just hugely disrespectful to all of us, and to this club, which has served Miguel so well, in particular.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bruce also confirmed that he would be having a meeting with Almiron when he returns from international duty:<\/p>\n

“I will have a conversation with him, of course,\u201d he said. \u201cBut Miguel is an unbelievable pro who has a great attitude to everything and is always smiling.<\/p>\n

“If it was Miguel, who I\u2019ve had the pleasure to work with for the last 15 months, knocking on my door and having a problem, I\u2019d listen. But it\u2019s a two-bob agent who has been hugely disrespectful to his client.\u201d<\/p>\n

What’s Next for Almiron?<\/h3>\n

While Miguel Almiron stared for Atlanta United in MLS, he hasn’t shown the same form in the Premier League. In his first full season at the club, he only provided four goals and two assists. This is not what Newcastle fans hoped for when the club signed him for a then-record fee.<\/p>\n

With form like that, it seems unlikely that clubs like Atletico Madrid or Inter Milan would be interested. However, it’s also possible that Almiron could thrive in a different set-up.<\/p>\n

Newcastle, under Bruce, tends to a play defensive style that limits the creativity of players. It could be possible that Almiron could rediscover his previous form in a different situation.<\/p>\n
