According to the Sunday Telegraph<\/a>, Manchester City<\/a> manager Pep Guardiola<\/a> is moving closer to signing a contract extension at the club.<\/p>\n

The Spaniard’s existing deal runs out at the end of the season. Despite this, Guardiola recently insisted that talks over a new contract had not started. However, people close to the manager expect him to extend his contract before the end of the season.<\/p>\n

After securing the league title in 2018, he signed a new three-year extension to keep him at the club until the end of the 2020\/21 season.<\/p>\n

Pep Guardiola Closer to Manchester City Extension<\/h2>\n

Longest Spell as Manager for Pep Guardiola<\/h3>\n

His spell at Manchester City is currently his longest spell at one club. He previously spent four years at Barcelona<\/a> and three years at Bayern Munich<\/a>.<\/p>\n

He has been successful at all three of these clubs, having won three league titles and two Champions League’s<\/a> with the Spanish club, before going onto win three league titles with Bayern Munich and two league titles with City.<\/p>\n

Manchester City Chairman’s Comments<\/h3>\n

Ahead of this season, the Manchester City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak had his take on the contract situation.<\/p>\n

After calling talks about a new contract as a “comfortable conversation”, the chairman went onto say: “Pep and I have a very clear understanding about what is right for the club and what is not.<\/p>\n

“We have a clear alignment in terms of where we see the future and what we want in terms of success for the club.”<\/p>\n

Guardiola Distancing Himself From Barcelona Job<\/h3>\n

Following the resignation of Josep Maria Bartomeu as president of Barcelona, presidential candidate Victor Font has publicly spoken about wanting Guardiola, as well as Xavi<\/a>, Andres Iniesta<\/a>, Carles Puyol<\/a> to return to the club.<\/p>\n
