It was the transfer rumour of the summer. For months, every newspaper and media outlet possible linked<\/a> Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho<\/a> to Manchester United<\/a>.<\/p>\n

And it’s no surprise why. The young Englishman has taken the Bundesliga by storm since his move from Manchester City<\/a>. Last season, he contributed<\/a> 17 goals and 17 assists in 32 top-flight games.<\/p>\n

But, this campaign has been a different story, leading many to believe that the winger has had his head turned by the Manchester United transfer speculation. He has yet to score<\/a> in six Bundesliga games.<\/p>\n

Jadon Sancho Denies That Manchester United Rumours Have Affected His Form<\/h2>\n

A Poor Start to the Season<\/h3>\n

This campaign has been a struggle so far for Jadon Sancho, leading many to believe that the Englishman has been affected by links to Manchester United.<\/p>\n

However, speaking after the England game, Sancho denied this charge. When he was asked about transfer speculation affecting his form, he told ITV<\/a>: “No, I don’t think so. I<\/span>\u00a0feel like every player has a little dip in their career and I’m going through that at the moment.<\/span><\/p>\n

“It is just how I am bouncing back and I’m just happy to have managers who have faith in me and keep starting me.”<\/span><\/p>\n

In a way, Sancho admitted that he may be struggling with his own expectations of himself.<\/p>\n

“I just expect a lot from myself personally,” he added.<\/span><\/p>\n

“When I play I always try to assist and score and always help the team. A couple of games ago I hadn’t been scoring or assisting but I knew I had a chance.”<\/span><\/p>\n

A Return to Form After the England Victory?<\/h3>\n

Getting away from Dortmund seemed to be a great tonic for Jadon Sancho. He played well and scored England’s second goal as the Three Lions eased past the Republic of Ireland. Dortmund fans will be hoping that this is the start of Sancho’s return to form.<\/p>\n

Quite simply, the young Englishman is too good to be in a slump for very long, and his goal on Thursday night may have been a boost that the forward needed.<\/p>\n
