Tanya Oxtoby, manager of Bristol City’s women’s team, has tested positive for COVID-19. As a result, the Robins boss will now self-isolate for the next ten days, missing the Women’s Super League game against Tottenham Hotspur<\/a> and FA Women’s League Cup game against Lewes F.C.<\/p>\n

Another Positive Case in the Bristol City Camp<\/h3>\n

Last weekend, Bristol City were without five first-team players when they faced Manchester City<\/a>.
\nBefore the game, Oxtoby voiced her concerns at the Football Association for enforcing her team to play with five absentees.<\/p>\n

Oxtoby took a test on Monday evening and started her self-isolation as per Public Health England guidelines. Naturally, she didn’t take part in Tuesday’s training session before her positive test returned on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

The rest of the squads’ tests came back negative, including Abi Harrison, Ella Mastrantonio, Charlie Wellings, Gemma Evans and Meaghan Sargeant, who all missed the trip to Manchester following positive results.<\/p>\n

Club Safety and Upcoming Fixtures<\/h3>\n

The club have reviewed their safety procedures following an increase of coronavirus cases in Bristol after the return of students in September.<\/p>\n

The team train at Bristol City’s South Gloucestershire and Stroud College, a venue where students are also located.<\/p>\n

Results have been poor for the Robins<\/a>. Oxtoby’s side lost 8-1 to the Citizens, leaving them bottom of the table with five defeats from their opening five league games.<\/p>\n

On Saturday, City welcome fellow slow-starters Tottenham, who are also winless from their opening six games, before travelling to Lewes in Cup.<\/p>\n

What Oxtoby Said<\/h3>\n

Via the clubs’ official website, Oxtoby released the following statement<\/a>: \u201cI\u2019m wishing the girls the best of luck for the two games we have coming up.<\/p>\n

“I\u2019m gutted I won\u2019t be able to be there and will be in contact and support the team where I can throughout my isolation.\u201d<\/p>\n
