Charlton Athletic owner Thomas Sandgaard has been issued with a notice to leave the club by the club’s legal department.<\/p>\n
It comes as the latest turn of events throughout what has been a complex saga since May.<\/p>\n
Lex Dominus, the business owned by Paul Elliott, has taken ownership of East Street Investments (ESI), Charlton’s current holding company.<\/p>\n
Per BBC Sport<\/a>, the disputed sale of ESI to Elliott on 25 May has resulted in several court cases taking place in an attempt to resolve the matter.<\/p>\n The previous majority shareholder of ESI, Tahnoon Nimer, sold Charlton to Sangaard in September as a result of Elliott failing the EFL’s Owners and Directors’ Test.<\/p>\n Elliott has disputed the sale of the club to Sandgaard, believing it to contravene a court injunction placed on Nimer<\/a> that prevented the latter from selling ESI. Elliott claims that, because ESI was the Addicks’ only asset at the time, the sale of the club to Sandgaard should not have been permitted.<\/p>\n After Nimer did not respond to a request from the High Court asking for documentation regarding the matter, the court has ruled in Elliott’s favour.<\/p>\n Elliott is believed to have contributed approximately \u00a3700,000 towards the running of the club. Commenting on the matter, he stated<\/a>: “The former directors of East Street Investments, had no authority to sell anything to anyone, not least agree the sale of Charlton Athletic Football Club to Mr Thomas Sandgaard.<\/p>\n “Put simply, it was not their asset to sell.<\/span><\/p>\n “We have written to the club lawyers asking them to inform Mr Sandgaard immediately, and the English Football League.<\/span><\/p>\n “We never wanted to get to this position, and we certainly do not wish to cause further distress or disruption to Charlton Athletic or its supporters.<\/span><\/p>\n “We always argued that we had a legal agreement to purchase the club and that has now been justified by the making of the court order.
