Current Wigan Athletic manager John Sheridan is reportedly taking charge of his final game at the club ahead of a managerial switch to Swindon Town. The news, via Simon Stone of the BBC,<\/a> came before kick-off between Tranmere Rovers and a travelling Wigan side, who sit rock bottom of League One.<\/a>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Swindon, the club Sheridan is reported to be joining following tonight’s game, sit 20th, just two points ahead of Wigan. When factoring in the league standings, Sheridan’s move becomes all the more interesting with his time at the Latics ending in failure, but also reportedly concluding with a move up the League One table to the higher placed Swindon.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Leaving a Struggling Wigan Side<\/h3>\n

After arriving at Wigan just one month ago, Sheridan departs having left the club in a worse position than when he arrived. The Latics are rock bottom of League One with just seven points to their name.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Sure, administrative circumstances haven’t helped, but Sheridan would have known his time at Wigan was coming to an end, especially with Swindon’s reported offer looming, seemingly set to be accepted and confirmed as soon as the final whistle sounds against Tranmere.<\/span><\/p>\n

The reported opportunity to take charge of newly-promoted Swindon will excite Sheridan, however, who has the chance to arrive at a club in a far more stable position than that of the crisis struck Wigan Athletic.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Swindon, themselves, too, should the reports be confirmed, will undoubtedly appreciate the experience of the current Wigan manager. Sheridan has managed a total of eight different EFL clubs, including Plymouth Argyle and Oldham Athletic.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

And, with his deal at the Latics coming to an end this week, he has reportedly accepted Swidon’s offer to take the reigns to add yet another club to his EFL Cv.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
