Garry Monk has spoken out about his Sheffield Wednesday exit in a statement released via the League Managers Association<\/a>.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Turbulent Time Under Garry Monk<\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

The 41-year-old took charge of the Owls in September 2019 and managed to keep them in the league, leading them to 16th in the table.<\/p>\r\n

However, he had his hands tied even more this year, with Wednesday being handed a 12-point deduction at the beginning of the season, leaving them rock bottom of the Championship.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Despite this, Monk had managed to take them one place higher in the table, and they currently sit on six points, meaning they are two points off of safety after having their deduction reduced to just six points upon appeal last week.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

\u2018Foundations in Place for the Club to Succeed in the Future\u2019<\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

However, Wednesday have decided to part ways with Monk, who has released a statement about his departure in which he claims he is \u2018disappointed\u2019 to have seen his time in Sheffield come to an end.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Monk said: \u201cIt is a huge disappointment to be leaving Sheffield Wednesday. It has always been a real honour and privilege to be manager of this historic club.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

\u201cArriving at the club last September, I gladly accepted the huge challenge, which was something I was determined to get my teeth into. Making our way to 3rd position in the league at the turn of the year was good progress.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

\u201cUnfortunately we were unable to maintain that form and produce the same consistency to gain the results we wanted.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

\u201cHard work has been at the core of our daily work and the standards of that work have definitely been demanded and raised since I first arrived at the club. I do believe there has been some foundations put in place that will enable the club to be successful in the future.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

\u201cI would like to thank everyone connected to the club; the chairman, staff, players and of course the fantastic fan base for their support and I give my very best wishes for the future.\u201d<\/p>\r\n
