Bayern Munich<\/a> are still desperate to retain the services of wantaway defender David Alaba<\/a>\u00a0and do not want to sell the Austrian in the upcoming winter transfer window.<\/p>\n

Alaba is under contract at the club until 2021, but has so far failed to agree terms over extending his stay with the club<\/a> he joined from Austria Vienna in 2008.<\/p>\n

Bayern Munich Do Not Want to Sell Alaba This Winter<\/h2>\n

Three Rounds of Contract Talks Have Already Broken Down<\/h3>\n

The future of Alaba is fast becoming something of a transfer saga for the German club. To make matters worse for the European champions, it seems to be taking a new turn for the worse with every passing week as they try to tie the defender down to a new deal.<\/p>\n

In July,\u00a0it was reported that<\/a>\u00a0the player\u2019s agent was demanding a contract offer of \u20ac20 million (\u00a318 million) a year for his client to even consider staying at the club.<\/p>\n

Bayern are unwilling to put forward such a proposal, which would see Alaba join the likes of Robert Lewandowski<\/a> and Thomas Muller<\/a> as the club’s highest earners.<\/p>\n

As a consequence, talks between the two parties have repeatedly failed to make headway. In October, Christian Falk, chief football writer for German publication Bild, reported that<\/a> three separate rounds of negotiations over a new contract have all broken down between Bayern and the player’s representatives.<\/p>\n

Alaba is Still a Key Bayern Munich Player<\/h3>\n

Falk now feels that it is “getting difficult”<\/a> for talks to even resume over Alaba’s future, meaning Bayern are resigned to losing the defender on a free transfer next year.<\/p>\n

However, Alaba remains a key component of the Bundesliga side’s defence, meaning the club do not want to sell him this winter<\/a>, even if doing so would result in them receiving a fee for the decorated international.<\/p>\n

Alaba now plays as a centre-back under Hansi Flick, and has made six appearances so far<\/a> in the new German league season, scoring once. Last season, in one of the most successful campaigns in the club’s history, the versatile 28-year-old racked up 42 appearances in all competitions<\/a>.<\/p>\n
