17-year-old Jude Bellingham<\/a> has received his first call-up to the England squad, following James Ward-Prowse’s<\/a> withdrawal due to injury.<\/p>\n

Midfielder Has Impressed Since Joining Borussia Dortmund in the Summer<\/h3>\n

Bellingham is a like-for-like replacement for Ward-Prowse, as both are central midfielders.<\/p>\n

The Borussia Dortmund midfielder will now be available for England’s games against Denmark and Iceland. However, England may have to forfeit the Iceland game due to the UK’s current coronavirus restrictions on people arriving from Denmark.<\/p>\n

Iceland are set to play in Copenhagen next Wednesday.<\/p>\n

The former Birmingham City<\/a> star joined Borussia Dortmund earlier this year<\/a> in a \u00a322.75million deal. He has immediately settled into life at the German giants – scoring on debut in the DFB-Pokal, with a further six appearances and an assist in the league. He has also made his Champions League debut this season.<\/p>\n

His new teammates have been impressed with his ability – Dortmund forward Thorgan Hazard has stated that Bellingham already ‘plays like a man’<\/a> despite his age.<\/p>\n

Birmingham City Legend at Just 17 Years Old<\/h2>\n

The starlet set a host of records while at his hometown club of Birmingham City. He was the youngest ever player to feature for the club at the age of 16 years and 38 days old.<\/p>\n

He also set the record for the youngest ever player to score for the club just 25 days later.<\/p>\n

His transfer to Dortmund remains a world-record fee for a 17-year-old.<\/p>\n

Birmingham City held the youngster in such high regard that they retired the number 22 shirt in recognition of Bellingham’s talent.<\/p>\n
