A blistering start for Diogo Jota at Liverpool<\/a> has impressed his former manager Nuno Espirito Santo. The Wolverhampton Wanderers <\/a>boss has revealed his pride at seeing the Portugal forward thrive on Merseyside.<\/p>\n

Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool agreed a reported \u00a341 million deal<\/a> with Wolves for Jota in September. The 23-year-old’s fast start at his new club has even led to suggestion that he may displace Brazil striker Roberto Firmino<\/a> in the Red’s feared forward line.<\/p>\n

Diogo Jota Has Fitted in Seamlessly at Anfield<\/h3>\n

Jota already has three goals in five top flight appearances<\/a> for Liverpool, who will return to the Premier League<\/a> summit with victory over Manchester City<\/a> on Sunday (8 November).<\/p>\n

Additionally, the former Porto striker has hit the ground running in the Champions League, scoring a hat-trick in a 5-0 demolition of Atalanta in Group D.<\/p>\n

Jota’s form has not gone unnoticed among his former employers, and Wolves manager Santo insists he is happy to see his former player thriving.<\/p>\n

“We are very happy for Diogo”, said the Wolves manager in quotes reported by The Mirror<\/a>. “He is enjoying his football; enjoying his momentum. He is doing amazing for Liverpool, [and] I think Jurgen Klopp is really happy with him.”<\/p>\n

“For us, we worked together for four seasons and when a player goes and succeeds, it makes us happy. In the case of Diogo it’s not a surprise. Diogo loves the game. He is committed, he lives for football; he plays and watches all the games. I am really happy for Diogo and I hope he continues and enjoys it game-by-game. It’s a joy to see him smile”, added the 46-year-old.<\/p>\n

Could Diogo Jota Usurp Roberto Firmino<\/a>?<\/h3>\n

All eyes will be on Liverpool’s attacking triumvirate when the Premier League champions travel to Manchester City this weekend. Following his latest goalscoring exploits, there have been calls for Diogo Jota to start alongside Mohamed Salah<\/a> and Sadio Mane<\/a> at the Etihad.<\/p>\n

Jurgen Klopp, however, has brushed off criticism of Roberto Firmino, who has scored once in 11 matches<\/a> for his side so far this season.<\/p>\n

“I don’t have to say one word about Bobby Firmino and how important he was for us,” said the Liverpool manager<\/a> of the Brazillian.<\/p>\n

“He was in so many games the difference-maker without scoring maybe, I’m not sure, but with scoring as well in other games, so I would feel really embarrassed if I had to mention now the qualities of Bobby Firmino”, added the 53-year-old.<\/p>\n
