Manchester United<\/a> frontman Mason Greenwood<\/a> is set to to return to the England squad after the loss of Danny Ings<\/a>, according to the Guardian<\/a>. Ings, who will undergo surgery on his knee, is expected to be side-lined for four-six weeks.<\/p>\n

Greenwood\u00a0 as well as Manchester City<\/a> midfielder Phil Foden<\/a>, were left out of England’s October international matches, after the pair invited two women into England’s hotel roAston Villa: Club News, Analysis, Fixtures<\/a>om in Iceland the previous month.<\/p>\n

An Earlier Than Expected Shot at Redemption<\/h3>\n

The 19-year-olds’s involvement in the squad is looking more likely since news emerged that Danny Ings was going to need surgery. The Southampton<\/a> striker would have certainly kept his place after scoring against Wales last time out. Additionally, his excellent form in a Saints shirt would have made the news even worse for Gareth Southgate<\/a>.<\/p>\n

However, it seems that Greenwood will not just walk back into the team. Southgate has strong options in the striking department, in already capped players such as Tammy Abraham<\/a> and Callum Wilson<\/a>. Aston Villa forward Ollie Watkins<\/a> may have also earned a call-up, with four goals in his first six Premier League appearances to his name.<\/p>\n

Need for Rotation Amidst Congested Fixture List<\/h3>\n

If selected, Mason Greenwood will have a very good chance of playing during this international period. England have three games in six days and it looks increasingly likely that the whole squad will be used in some capacity.<\/p>\n

England host Republic of Ireland in a friendly on 12 November<\/a>, before two Nations League matches. An away trip to Belgium follows on the 15 November, before Iceland visit Wembley on the 18th.<\/p>\n

Other Issues for Southgate<\/h3>\n

The next obvious question for Southgate is whether to include Foden. The young midfielder is expected to make the squad, but nothing is set in stone.<\/p>\n

Reece James<\/a> may not be included as he will have to face a two-match Nations League ban following his sending off in last month’s 1-0 defeat to Denmark. Harry Maguire<\/a>, who was also sent off in the same game, faces a one-match ban and is subsequently more likely to be included than the Chelsea<\/a> full-back.<\/p>\n

Elsewhere, Leeds United<\/a> midfielder Kalvin Phillips<\/a> will be unavailable for selection because of a shoulder injury.<\/p>\n
