The news follows a good start to his Chelsea career with seven-goal involvements to his name in 10 games, including four goals.

For now, though, the Blues will be without the German midfielder as he enters the mandatory isolation stage which should see him miss the upcoming international break with Germany and Chelsea’s game against Sheffield United. Luckily for Chelsea, however, he should be back in time for the Premier League and Chelsea’s return against Newcastle.

Havertz Tests Positive for COVID-19

Frank Lampard has confirmed Kai Havertz has tested positive for Covid-19. Perhaps, in the absence of Havertz, Frank Lampard will hand an opportunity to Callum Hudson-Odoi or Tammy Abraham, should a formation change occur.

Either way, whoever does come into replace the German, they will struggle to have the same impact in the creative department of Frank Lampard’s side.

Frustrating for Frank Lampard

After a shaky start, it looked as though Frank Lampard had finally found his best Chelsea side, and a side ready to challenge for the title. The Havertz news has since dented the hope of continued consistency, however, with the source of creativity now set to be missing for at least one game.

The Champions League game against Rennes will give us a good indication of how capable the Chelsea squad is of covering for the absentee before the next test against Sheffield United at the weekend.

The German National team will, too, be disappointed with the news with games against the Czech Republic and Nations League games against Ukraine and a big test against Spain to come.

Main Photo
Embed from Getty Images

New Chelsea signing Kai Havertz has tested positive for COVID-19, the club has confirmed ahead of their Champions League tie against Rennes.
