The Gunners claimed victory at the Theatre of Dreams for the first time since 2006 in a dull affair. Brendan Rogers’ Leicester City jumped to second, picking up all three points at a blustery Elland Road.

Premier League Team of the Week

The Back Five

GK: Bernd Leno (Arsenal)

The goalkeeper spot was a tricky one this week. Arsenal’s Leno just about nicks it thanks to a smart save from Mason Greenwood in the first half with the scores goalless. The German was lucky late on when Donny van de Beek’s cross hit him in the face and cannoned off the upright.

RB: Kyle Walker (Manchester City)

Scored the only goal of the game against his former club while using his pace to snuff out any Sheffield United attacks.

CB: Gabriel (Arsenal)

Could have been any one of Arsenal’s backline but the Brazilian gets the nod. Commanding in the air and marshalled throughout. However, he was lucky not to receive a second yellow late on for a foul on Mason Greenwood.

CB: Kurt Zouma (Chelsea)

The Frenchman was strong and composed against a rugged Burnley side. Zouma notched Chelsea’s second goal with a towering header and now has three goals in the league this term.

LB: Rayan Ait-Nouri (Wolverhampton Wanderers)

The youngster didn’t disappoint on his Premier League debut. On loan from French side Angers, Ait-Nouri scored the opener in Wolves’ 2-0 victory over Palace while nullifying the threat of Andros Townsend going the other way.

The Midfield Three

CM: Thomas Partey (Arsenal)

Bossed the midfield in Arsenal’s 1-0 victory at Old Trafford. Very tidy and assured throughout. The Gunners finally have their midfield maestro that they have been screaming out for.

CM: James Ward-Prowse (Southampton)

The Englishman capped off a memorable birthday with two fantastic first-half free-kicks. The midfielder also teed up Jannik Vestergaard for the opener.

CM: Youri Tielemans (Leicester City)

Tielemans scored his second and third goals of the season in Leicester’s 4-1 win over Leeds United. The Belgian midfielder slotted home Jamie Vardy’s rebounded effort before putting the gloss on the victory with a penalty in stoppage time.

The Front Three

RM: Hakim Ziyech (Chelsea)

The Moroccan scored on his first start for the club midweek in the Champions League and repeated the feat at the weekend in his first Premier League start for the club. Ziyech opened the scoring against Burnley before teeing up Timo Werner midway through the second half.

LM: Jack Grealish (Aston Villa)

Despite being on the losing side, Grealish had a hand in all three of his sides’ goals. The Englishman teed up Tyrone Mings for Villa’s first and won the penalty for their second. He scored late on from range but was too little too late.

ST: Callum Wilson (Newcastle United)

The ex Bournemouth talisman won and scored his side’s opener from the penalty spot and then netted what turned out to be the winner against Everton.

Main Photo

Embed from Getty Images

Let’s take a look at our Premier League team of the week: Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool end gameweek seven as the Premier League leaders following their 2-1 victory over West Ham United.
