Tranmere Rovers have confirmed that they have sacked first-team manager Mike Jackson.<\/p>\n
The 46-year-old leaves the club in 18th place in League Two.<\/p>\n
A run of two wins in 10 league games has seen Jackson depart Prenton Park after being appointed<\/a> before the start of\u00a0 the season.<\/p>\n Both of those wins came against Scunthorpe United and Southend United, the two sides propping up the division. As a result, the Whites have acted quickly to turn around their season.<\/p>\n It marks a whirlwind last two years for the club. The 2018\/19 season saw them promoted via the play-offs from League Two. However, they suffered a miserable campaign last season, collecting just 32 points from 34 games before the season was curtailed.<\/p>\n Speaking about the departure, Chairman Mike Palios said that he had no choice but to relieve Jackson of his duties.<\/p>\n He said:<\/a> “I appointed Mike because he was an excellent coach who had some forward-thinking ideas and had played a big part in the two promotions enjoyed under Micky Mellon’s tenure.<\/p>\n “I therefore felt he deserved the\u00a0chance to make the step up\u00a0this summer when Micky left the Club.\u00a0Despite the fact that this is\u00a0a season which has thrown up challenges that no manager has had to face before\u00a0I have regrettably come to the conclusion that it is right for the Club to make a change of manager.<\/p>\n “This is a season\u00a0which could still yet be shortened due to Covid\u00a0so\u00a0we do not have the luxury of time to turn things around.<\/p>\n “The Club will always be grateful to Mike for his contributions first as a player and then as assistant manager\u00a0as well as\u00a0his efforts as first team manager.
