After suffering a shoulder injury before the international break, Alisson Becker<\/a> is ahead of his recovery schedule and is expected to make a return at the end of October, according to James Pearce of The Athletic.\u00a0<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

The news will come as a relief for Liverpool, who will be without centre-back Virgil van Dijk for a lengthy spell<\/a> following his knee injury sustained against Everton.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Alisson’s reported earlier return than expected could provide the Reds with a much-needed defensive boost as they look to potentially go the season without Van Dijk.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Brazilian will miss games against Ajax, Sheffield United, Midtjylland, West Ham United and potentially Atalanta, but, according to James Pearce is on course to be back in time for the game against Manchester City.<\/span><\/p>\n

Relief for Liverpool<\/span><\/h3>\n

With the often unreliable Adrian currently playing the number one role, in the absence of Alisson, Liverpool have looked more vulnerable than ever at the back. Now, without the assured van Dijk to cancel out any potential blunders from the keeper, Alisson’s return at the end of the month will be more than welcome within the Anfield ranks.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Liverpool backline will undoubtedly be more susceptible to chances created, but Alisson’s presence should help prevent the goals. Crucially, too, as reports suggest, the Brazilian is on course for a return in potentially the biggest game of the Liverpool season against Manchester City.<\/span><\/p>\n

Until then, Liverpool must cope with their number one goalkeeper, and without the composure he brings. With games fast approaching, too, Jurgen Klopp must put an end to the recent defensive Liverpool woes, even in the absence of van Dijk, to ensure a steadier road to a potentially successful title defence.<\/span><\/p>\n

Adrian will be called on once more, and as soon as midweek, as Liverpool travel to Ajax in hope of a return to winning ways.<\/span><\/p>\n
