Brighton & Hove Albion<\/a> have confirmed the arrival of Danny Welbeck on a one-year deal.<\/p>\n

The 29-year-old striker has been a free agent since being released by Watford<\/a> earlier this month.<\/p>\n

Short-Term Deal Offering Chance to Prove Himself<\/h3>\n

Welbeck has been plagued by injuries throughout his entire career. As a result, a short-term deal could prove to be best for all parties, as it offers Welbeck the chance to prove that he still has what it takes.<\/p>\n

The 29-year-old was released by Watford after just one season due to injury concerns. He made 20 appearances during his time at Vicarage Road, scoring just three goals.<\/p>\n

While he did star with previous club Arsenal<\/a> – whom he joined Watford from – it was once again injuries that saw him released by the Gunners. Welbeck could never get an extended run in the Arsenal side due to being out injured for long periods of time.<\/p>\n

However, when he did play, he shone, showing perhaps why the Seagulls have added him to their squad. The 2017\/18 season was particularly successful for the 29-year-old – he scored 10 goals in 43 appearances in all competitions for the Gunners.<\/p>\n

What Was Said?<\/h3>\n

Speaking about his new signing to the official Brighton website<\/a>, Seagulls boss Graham Potter said: “We are delighted to have Danny joining us. He will complement our existing striking options.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s got an undoubted pedigree, and he is quick and technically very good. He will add to our attacking threat and we are thrilled to add another player of his experience and quality.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dan Ashworth, Technical Director at the Amex Stadium, added: “I think Danny\u2019s arrival concludes what we feel has been a very good window for the club.<\/p>\n

\u201cA lot of planning, diligence and hard work went into the recruitment side, and I would like to thank all the club\u2019s different departments for their efforts in achieving that.\u201d<\/p>\n
