Manchester United<\/a> goalkeeper Sergio Romero<\/a> was denied a loan move to Everton<\/a> on international transfer deadline day, according to The Athletic<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Romero was left annoyed by the decision not to allow him to join the Toffees from those at Old Trafford.<\/p>\n

Manchester United Denied Everton Loan Move for Sergio Romero on Deadline Day<\/h2>\n

Everton’s Deadline Day Offer for Romero<\/h3>\n

Everton made a deadline day move to sign Argentine goalkeeper Sergio Romero from Manchester United. The Merseyside side had offered to cover Romero’s \u00a3100,000-a-week wages in their entirety, with the addition of a \u00a32 million loan fee. However, Manchester United rejected this, instead demanding \u00a38 million for a full sale.<\/p>\n

It is also claimed that there are suspicions that Manchester United didn’t want to strengthen a rival, given Everton’s positive start to the season<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Romero Now United’s Third-Choice Goalkeeper<\/h3>\n

Romero now finds himself as Manchester United’s third-choice goalkeeper and understandably wants to be allowed to leave the club to find more regular football.<\/p>\n

He has been an excellent servant to the club, since joining in 2015. Romero was signed on a free<\/a> by Dutch manager Louis van Gaal, who had previously worked with him at AZ Alkmaar<\/a>.<\/p>\n

However, since Dean Henderson<\/a>‘s return from his loan<\/a> at Sheffield United<\/a>, Romero looks to have no way into the team. It’s understandable that the goalkeeper would seek a departure.<\/p>\n

Everton had been looking for some competition for England<\/a> goalkeeper Jordan Pickford<\/a>. Pickford has made a series of mistakes over the last year or so and the club needs a reliable back-up, that could also force Pickford to step up on his performances. Following the rejection from Manchester United, Everton signed AS Roma<\/a> goalkeeper Robin Olsen<\/a> on loan instead<\/a>. So, whilst the domestic window remains open, the Toffees are no longer looking for a new goalkeeper.<\/p>\n

Manchester United Not Exactly Treating Him as He Has Them<\/h3>\n

For all his good service, Manchester United haven’t exactly rewarded him. Romero has been the club’s cup goalkeeper for some time but last season Ole Gunnar Solskjaer<\/a> showed a lack of faith in the goalkeeper. Solskjaer selected David de Gea<\/a> for the Carabao Cup<\/a>, FA Cup<\/a> and Europa League<\/a> semi-finals last campaign. All of those games saw United eliminated.<\/p>\n

Romero was not named in United’s Champions League<\/a> squad for the current campaign, this is something The Athletic<\/a> report he was not told in advance of.<\/p>\n

Major League Soccer Interest<\/h3>\n

Sergio Romero could still leave Manchester United. The domestic window remains open until October 16, should any new interest arise. However, it seems more likely a move to Major League Soccer<\/a> will be on the cards. The transfer window in the United States remains open until October 29, and The Athletic<\/a> claims there are a number of MLS clubs interested in signing Romero.<\/p>\n
