Leeds United<\/a> have enquired about the transfer of Derby County<\/a> starlet Louie Sibley<\/a> according to reports.<\/p>\n

Derby’s Sibley Wanted by Yorkshire Giants<\/h3>\n

According to Football Insider<\/a> and subsequently, Derbyshire Live<\/a>, the Yorkshire club want to sign the 19-year-old this week.<\/p>\n

The club’s recruitment chief Victor Orta is understood to see the midfielder as a target for the Premier League side.<\/p>\n

However, as of yet, no formal bid has been made for the England under-20 star. The domestic transfer window closes on Friday so any move would need to happen soon.<\/p>\n

Academy Graduate Sibley Attracting Attention<\/h3>\n

At just 19 years-old, Sibley has shot into the limelight in the Championship after an impressive 2020.<\/p>\n

He scored five goals in 11 appearances during the second half of last season and has cemented a place in Derby’s first team as a result.<\/p>\n

Sibley has featured in all but one of the Rams matches this season. A muscle injury ruled him out of Phillip Cocu<\/a>‘s side 1-0 win over Norwich City. The Dutchman told local media that his recovery could leave him sidelined for a number of weeks.<\/p>\n

Leeds United Hoping Sibley Could End Midfielder Search<\/h3>\n

The Whites have been in the marker for a midfielder than can get forward all summer. A deal to sign Bayern Munich’s Michael Cuisance<\/a> fell through at the last moment due to issues with his medical.<\/p>\n

However, whether Sibley would be a good alternative remains to be seen. He’s played 22 times in total for Derby and a move to the Premier League with Leeds would certainly be a step up in terms of opposition.<\/p>\n

What’s more, the Academy graduate, alongside fellow starlet Max Bird<\/a>, signed a contract extension with the club just last month. They both penned new deals to keep them at the club until the summer of 2024.<\/p>\n
