Young Arsenal<\/a> defender William Saliba<\/a> is reportedly set to complete a loan move to the Championship<\/a>. According to Charles Watts of Goal<\/a>, promotion hopefuls Brentford are interested in the defender, who is yet to make his first Arsenal start.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The move is undoubtedly a needed one when considering the Frenchman’s development this season after arriving at the Emirates in the summer for a fee of \u00a327 million.<\/span><\/p>\n

With the European transfer window now slammed shut, too, the Championship looks the place best suited for Saliba to gain that crucial game-time needed to become a constant feature in Arsenal’s future backline.<\/span><\/p>\n

Last season, Brentford looked just about set to take the Premier League by storm before disaster struck to create a devastating final few weeks of the season.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

First, they failed in their bid for automatic promotion, then, after suffering defeat against Fulham at the last hurdle, they failed to win the play-offs to secure a place in the so-called promised land of the Premier League despite looking nailed on to join the top flight for the 20\/21 season.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

One defensive error eventually proved too many for Brentford who remained in the Championship, losing the likes of Ollie Watkins<\/a> as a result. Defensively, they must improve if they want to reach the Premier League. And that’s where William Saliba could come in.<\/span><\/p>\n

The French defender would bring bundles of potential, ready to be unlocked by Brentford manager Thomas Frank, who has so far guided his side to four points in four games. As Saliba receives more game time, he’ll only continue to improve, leaving Brentford with potentially one of the best young defenders in the division.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The move, should it transpire, will certainly be one to keep an eye on as Saliba seeks the much-needed game time to reach his potential.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
