Chris Hughton believes he is the man to end Nottingham Forest<\/a>\u2019s 21-year exodus from the Premier League<\/a>, and hopes to challenge for promotion in his first season at the City Ground.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Reds are 22nd in the Championship<\/a> having lost all four of their opening League fixtures – also exiting the Carabao Cup<\/a> at the first hurdle following a 1-0 defeat at Barnsley<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

It has been just over a year since the 61-year-old, who was announced as Forest boss half an hour after the departure of Sabri Lamouchi<\/a>, was in his last managerial role – at Brighton & Hove Albion<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

After a year out, the former Tottenham Hotspur full-back is \u201cvery excited\u201d to manage Nottingham Forest, and hopes to make an immediate impact at the City Ground.<\/span><\/p>\n

Speaking to the media for the first time since his appointment earlier this week, the former Newcastle United<\/a> boss was keen on leading a turn-around in fortune with Forest.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m excited to be back in the game,\u201d he said. \u201cOne of the harder parts of being out of the game is being out on the training pitch and the pressure of getting results.”<\/span><\/p>\n

He added: \u201cForest is a club I know very well having played here, and coached and managed against them here.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe have a history here which cannot be taken away, it is the reason the club feels they should be higher than they are.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe have to continue to do the very best job we can, in order to make that happen.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt is a big job, that is no doubt,\u201d he said. \u201cI know where the club has been for a number of years and how many managers have tried.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m aware how big a job is, the expectations, the fans we have – that comes with the territory and it is something that, in the best way possible, you have to enjoy.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
