Manchester United<\/a> are close to signing a promising winger on deadline day, but no, it’s not Jadon Sancho<\/a>. It’s Facundo Pellistri<\/a>, the Pe\u00f1arol man who is close to joining the Red Devils, according to The Athletic<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Changes Needed After Humiliating Spurs Performance<\/h3>\n

The nature of United’s defeat to Tottenham Hotspur<\/a> shows that what they have at the moment is not good enough. Losing to a side with Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son is not something to be ashamed about, but losing 6-1 is.<\/p>\n

Several players have already come out and spoken about the unacceptable recent form, and now it’s up the higher-ups to attempt to reinforce the squad after the club’s joint-biggest defeat in Premier League history.<\/p>\n

Many rumours have come and gone, including Sancho, Gareth Bale, Sergio Reguilon.<\/a> They did sign Donny van de Beek<\/a>, but the fact is one signing is not enough.<\/p>\n

Pellistri is a bright young talent, and at just 18, he has his whole future ahead of him. However, he is certainly not the man to turn the team around, as he may not even be in the senior team this season.<\/p>\n

Regardless, he could turn out to be a very smart signing for United, at just \u00a310 million.<\/p>\n

Busy Deadline Day Ahead<\/h3>\n

Thankfully for United fans, Pellistri isn’t the only man being targeted in the closing hours of the transfer window. Alex Telles<\/a> and Edinson Cavani<\/a> will reportedly<\/a> both complete switches to Old Trafford.<\/p>\n

Telles has been in high demand all summer, first from Chelsea<\/a>, and now from United. However, both times he has been the second choice. Chelsea prioritised Ben Chilwell and got him, while the Red Devils prioritised Reguilon and didn’t.<\/p>\n

Still, Telles is a solid left-back who is sure to be an improvement on the current United defence. Cavani, the 33-year-old free agent, is obviously more of a panic buy.<\/p>\n

The Uruguayan has been available to clubs all summer, but there was not even a whiff of interest from a top-six Premier League club. Chelsea and United had both considered him last January, but he decided to stay at Paris Saint-Germain.<\/p>\n

Now, though, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer having virtually no other options, he has turned to Cavani. The agent fees will cost \u00a310m alone, and his wage will be substantial, so it may not be a worthwhile move.<\/p>\n

However, Cavani may not be as good as he once was, but he still has an accurate shot, a nice first touch, and a predatory striker’s instinct.<\/p>\n

These signings haven’t been confirmed, and neither has Pellestri’s, but they are getting closer and closer<\/a>, particularly the young Pe\u00f1arol forward.<\/p>\n
