Douglas Costa<\/a> has re-joined Bayern Munich<\/a> on a season-long loan from Italian champions<\/a> Juventus<\/a>. The 30-year-old returns to Munich three years after he left the club for Turin. The Brazilian winger becomes Bayern’s second signing of the day, with Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting<\/a> arriving at the club, after departing from Paris Saint-Germain<\/a> this summer.<\/p>\n

Despite a stop-start season for the winger, Costa is desperate to get his career back on track. A number of injuries halted his progress with Juventus and often left him on the fringes of the squad when he was fit.<\/p>\n

A Risk Bayern Munich are Willing to Take<\/h3>\n

It is no secret that Douglas Costa is an exceptionally talented individual, which is why it has not been surprising seeing a number of clubs express an interest in the man. However, the majority of clubs deemed the 30-year-old a risk, given his injury record.<\/p>\n

Juventus were well aware of the ability that the Brazilian winger possesses, but the frequency of injuries became a real problem. A similar viewpoint was held by Manchester United<\/a>, who regarded Costa as a Jadon Sancho<\/a> alternative.<\/p>\n

World-Class Individual Only Adds to Bayern’s Superiority<\/h3>\n

Despite the perceived risk in taking Costa back, Bayern are adding to their already world-class squad. The German side won the Bundesliga and the Champions League in the 2019\/20 campaign and are declaring a statement of intent by adding Costa to their ranks.<\/p>\n

When Costa arrived at Bayern for \u20ac30 million from Shakhtar Donetsk,<\/a> he was the fourth most expensive player in Bayern Munich’s history. Subsequently, there was a lot of hype around his name. He enjoyed a good first season with the Germans but struggled a bit more in his second. Costa’s injuries, coupled Carlo Ancelotti<\/a>‘s preference of Franck Ribery<\/a>, meant that the wide-man struggled for game-time.<\/p>\n

His talent has always been there for everyone to see, but his injury-record has stopped Costa from progressing further.<\/p>\n
