Southend United<\/a> have signed winger Ashley Nathaniel-George<\/a> from Crawley Town<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Early Fight Against Relegation<\/h3>\n

Southend United boss Mark Molesley<\/a> has added Ashley Nathaniel-George to bolster his attacking options.<\/p>\n

The Blues are in an early relegation fight having failed to win any of their opening four League matches.<\/p>\n

Nathaniel-George, 27, joins the League Two<\/a> side – who have scored just two goals so far this season – on a permanent transfer.<\/p>\n

The tricky winger joins as a relatively experienced striker in the fourth tier, netting eleven goals in 57 appearances for Crawley Town.<\/p>\n

He started his career as an Arsenal<\/a> youngster, featuring within the Gunners’ youth set-up until the age of 14.<\/p>\n

Spells with a number of non-league<\/a> sides followed. In 2015, the winger joined Potters Bar Town and scored 17 times in all competitions before linking up with Hendon in 2017.<\/p>\n

A further 13 goals for the North-West London side followed, making him a hot talent in the Isthmian League Premier Division.<\/p>\n

After signing a contract with Southend United, Nathaniel-George said: “I\u2019m excited to be here and happy to get it over and done with.<\/p>\n

“I wanted a change of scenery and to play more and hopefully I can do that here.<\/p>\n

“I\u2019ve been mostly used on the left [wing] but either is fine. I just enjoy playing really.<\/p>\n

“I like to take on players and hope to bring goals and assists to the team.<\/p>\n

“I\u2019ve spoken to the gaffer and he\u2019s told me what he wants to achieve, how he wants to achieve it, playing good football and I think part of my game is to play football the right way.<\/p>\n

“I\u2019m really optimistic about the future.”<\/p>\n

Blues boss Mark Molesley, added: “Ash is another exciting player. He\u2019s got really good attributes, he\u2019s skilful, very quick and exciting so I think he\u2019s one that will have people on the edge of their seat.<\/p>\n

“He definitely gives us another attacking option and he\u2019s still young enough to get a lot better, so we\u2019re getting him at a good age. As a coaching staff we\u2019re all going to be working hard together to unlock that potential.<\/p>\n

“He\u2019s come out of non-league into the league and done well and I think last year had quite a lot of interest in him, so he\u2019s a real coup for us to get him into the building.”<\/p>\n
