Bayern Munich<\/a> have confirmed the signing of 31-year-old striker<\/a> Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting<\/a>. The Cameroon international joins the German side following his departure from Bayern’s Champions League final competitors Paris Saint-Germain<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The forward has signed on a free transfer and has put pen to paper on a one-year deal.\u00a0 The German giants have also confirmed that Choupo-Moting will take the number 13 shirt.<\/p>\n

Choupo-Moting Will Continue at the Highest Level After Stoke City<\/h3>\n

After a disappointing 2017\/18 Premier League campaign with Stoke City<\/a>, not many would have thought PSG and Bayern Munich would have been the 31-year-old’s next two destinations.<\/p>\n

Despite being used primarily as a bench player, Choupo-Moting managed six goals in 31 appearances for the French Champions. He spent two seasons with PSG and enjoyed a more successful 2019\/20 campaign than the previous. The highlight of his year would certainly have been scoring the goal that sent his side into the semi-finals of the Champions League.<\/a> His 93rd-minute tap-in ensured a 2-1 victory for the Parisiens – a history-making goal that took his PSG further than the club had ever been before.<\/p>\n

What Will Choupo-Moting’s Role Be at Bayern?<\/h3>\n

With Bayern eventually beating Choupo-Moting’s PSG in the Champions League final, the Germans are continuing to play teams off the park. Robert Lewandowski<\/a> scored 55 goals in all competitions last season, and if Choupo-Moting thinks he will have a fighting chance in cementing a starting spot in this current Bayern side, then he has another think coming.<\/p>\n

Similar to last season at PSG, it is most likely that he will be used from the bench. He has proven both in Europe and domestically that he can impact a game, and is something that would have initially attracted Bayern in the first place. He can operate centrally and on both flanks, and will add an extra dynamic to Bayern’s play should they need.<\/p>\n
