AC Milan<\/a> have opened talks with Schalke O4 to sign central defender Ozan Kabak<\/a>, according to Fabrizio Romano<\/a>. Negotiations are ongoing with Schalke reportedly<\/a> wanting \u00a325 million. A meeting with the Milan board is set for today.<\/span><\/p>\n

The news comes amid a difficult time for Schalke who have just sacked manager David Wagner following a winless start to the Bundesliga. Kabak, the subject of the transfer, has also endured recent struggles after being handed a five-match suspension<\/a> for attempting to spit on an opposition player.<\/span><\/p>\n

It was a moment to forget for the young centre-back who otherwise has enjoyed a prosperous spell at the German club, attracting interest from the likes of Liverpool and now Milan.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Kabak a Risky Move?<\/span><\/h3>\n

Before last weekend’s incident, Kabak seemed the perfect option for many clubs around Europe. At 20 years old, he has plenty of years to progress while also ticking the box for current talent, but, the spitting incident last time out may highlight a disciplinary issue that Milan could be wise to avoid.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Many players have made mistakes in the past, however, especially at a young age, and this is something Milan must consider when deciding whether to make a move. Putting this one mistake aside could prove worthwhile should Kabak reach his ever-increasing potential.<\/span><\/p>\n

With the five-game suspension in place, though, should Milan complete the move, Kabak will likely have to wait to make his debut at the Italian club.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Milan Seeking Champions League Qualification\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n

Milan’s improvement may be gradual, but it is improvement nonetheless. Their recent qualification for the Europa League group stages was a big step for the Italian giants, but, a return to the Champions League would be the biggest step yet for the Milan rebuild.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

So far, so good, too. Milan currently sit fifth in Serie A, level on points with those above them, after two wins from two games.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
