Tottenham Hotspur<\/a> defender Juan Foyth is set to join Villarreal on loan with an option to buy, according to Fabrizio Romano<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Argentinian centre-back is said to have chosen to join Unai Emery\u2019s side in Spain over a host of clubs in Italy. He is also said to have rejected advances from two unnamed sides.<\/span><\/p>\n

Unai Emery\u2019s side are set to cover all of the player\u2019s salary as part of the agreement and could sign Foyth on a permanent deal with a \u20ac15 million obligation to buy.<\/span><\/p>\n

Spanish football outlet Mundo Deportivo claimed Leeds United<\/a> saw a \u00a325 million bid rejected<\/a> for Foyth earlier in the summer.<\/span><\/p>\n

With Toby Alderweireld signing a contract extension and Spurs in talks with Inter Milan to bring Milan Skriniar<\/a> to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, it appears there is no room for the 22-year old defender.<\/span><\/p>\n

If Skriniar was to sign from the Italian side, it would give Jose Mourinho a wealth of defensive options: Davinson Sanchez, a product of the grand Ajax academy, and Eric Dier along with 31-year old Alderweireld and young star Japhet Tanganga; all of whom were given more playing time than Foyth.<\/span><\/p>\n

The young Argentinian centre-back has struggled for game time under Mourinho, failing to nail down a regular spot. He made only seven appearances last season across all competitions, with just 32 since he arrived from Estudiantes in 2017.<\/span><\/p>\n

Mourinho and Tottenham have had a great transfer window, resigning Gareth Bale<\/a> on loan from Real Madrid<\/a>, whilst also beating Manchester United<\/a> to in-demand left-back Sergio Reguilon<\/a>. The experienced Portuguese manager has gone one step better than his predecessors by signing cover for star striker Harry Kane.<\/span><\/p>\n

Carlos Vinicius has joined Mourinho\u2019s side from Benfica on an initial loan for \u20ac3 million. Spurs do have the option to make the move permanent next summer for \u20ac45 million.<\/span><\/p>\n
