Arsenal’s<\/a>\u00a0Lucas Torreira has completed a loan move to La Liga<\/a> giants Atletico Madrid<\/a>. The Uruguay international has joined until the end of the season with Atletico having the option to buy.<\/p>\n

Lucas Torreira Moves to Atletico Madrid on Loan<\/b><\/h2>\n

Midfielder Said His Goodbyes on Friday<\/b><\/h3>\n

Lucas Torreira said his goodbyes to his Arsenal<\/a> teammates on Friday at the club’s London Colney training base. Shortly after, the midfielder flew to Madrid to complete his loan move. Twenty-four-year-old Torreira joined the Gunners from Sampdoria for \u00a326 million in the summer of 2018 and has played 89 games in all competitions, scoring four goals.<\/p>\n

Torreira made a bright start to his Arsenal career following his move from Italy. He was a feature of the side under former manager Unai Emery<\/a> until the Spaniard was sacked. Torreira continued in the team under Mikel Arteta until injury ended his season. Since regaining fitness he has featured sparingly and does not appear to be in Arteta’s long-term plans. A move to Spain to link up with Diego Simeone and his Madrid team appears to be beneficial for all concerned.<\/p>\n

Arteta Keen to Strengthen after Lucas Torreira Departure\u00a0<\/b><\/h3>\n

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta<\/a> is keen to bring in new talent to the Emirates as well as move several players out of the club. With transfer deadline day on Monday, it could be a busy time for Arteta and Arsenal. Speaking to reporters ahead of deadline day, Arteta said it is a “crucial moment<\/a>” in the Gunners season.<\/p>\n

“It is a crucial moment. It defines the people, players, the balance and quality you’re probably going to have for the rest of the season.<\/p>\n

“We need to make some decisions in the next three days. Everything has been delayed so much, not only for us but every team.<\/p>\n

“We will try to make the best possible decisions and at the end, whatever we have, we go for it fully convinced and prepared to have a good season.”<\/p>\n

Arsenal have had a good start to the season, winning the Community Shield<\/a>, collecting nine points from their opening four games and reaching the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup<\/a> after defeating league champions Liverpool<\/a> at Anfield. Should the Gunners and Arteta do the business they wish to do before deadline day is over, Arsenal fans could have reason to cheer this season.<\/p>\n
