Liverpool<\/a> striker Rhian Brewster is set to sign a permanent deal with Sheffield United<\/a>, according to David Ornstein of The Athletic<\/a>. The Blades are currently without a win or a goal in their three Premier League matches so far this season, thus the reported \u00a323.5 million move comes at a good time for them. Ornstein also says that a 15% sell-on clause has been included in the deal and that Liverpool have a buyback option lasting three years.<\/p>\n

Goal-Shy Blades Add to Their Attack<\/h3>\n

While this is not the first attacking signing Chris Wilder has made this summer, it’s certainly the one that will get fans excited. Brewster may not have experience of playing in the Premier League, but the rate at which he scored while on loan with Swansea City<\/a> in the Championship last season suggests the 20-year-old will have no problem adapting to the top flight.<\/p>\n

Scoring goals was not really part of Sheffield United’s game last season. They scored the fewest number of goals (39<\/a>) of any team in the top half of the table last season. Given their results so far in this campaign, though, that will have to change. League defeats Wolverhampton Wanderers<\/a>, Aston Villa<\/a> and Leeds United<\/a> have been added to by a penalty shoot-out exit in the Carabao Cup to Burnley<\/a> – where David McGoldrick scored their only goal so far.<\/p>\n

Brewster is an unknown quantity in Premier League terms, which does give this transfer a slight hint of a risk, but the youngster will no doubt be keen to prove himself in the top flight.<\/p>\n

Good Deal for Liverpool<\/h3>\n

Liverpool will be confident that they got the better side of the deal in this move, having been able to sell a player unproven in the Premier League for more than \u00a320 million, while still retaining the option to buy him back if all goes well.<\/p>\n

The Reds still have more players to ship out and another who could be on the move soon is Xherdan Shaqiri. The Swiss international was left out of Thursday’s Carabao Cup defeat to Arsenal, despite not being injured. The Athletic’s James Pearce<\/a> reports that this was due to two clubs opening negotiations to sign the winger. The names of the clubs were not revealed, although one is thought to be from Serie A.<\/p>\n
