Everton<\/a> have had a bid accepted for Norwich City<\/a> defender Ben Godfrey, according to John Percy of The Daily Telegraph<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Toffees have been pursuing a centre-back for much of the window and have had several targets in mind.<\/p>\n

Carlo Ancelotti has been seeking to add a centre-back to his squad throughout much of the summer.<\/p>\n

The Italian currently has just two centre-backs available due to his injuries in his squad. While Michael Keane and Yerry Mina have performed superbly so far this season, Ancelotti is looking to add to his options.<\/p>\n

As a result, the Toffees have had several options in mind throughout the summer. Their preference was to add a player on loan, according to The Athletic, but it now seems like they have settled on the Norwich defender.<\/p>\n

Everton were linked<\/a> with a move for Chelsea<\/a> defender Fikayo Tomori earlier in the window; however, he now looks set to remain at Stamford Bridge.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, the Goodison Park-outfit were also keen<\/a> on a move for Jean-Clair Todibo. However, it was unclear whether a move for the Barcelona<\/a> defender was a loan or a permanent move.<\/p>\n

How Will Ben Godfrey Fit in at Everton?<\/h3>\n

The 22-year-old’s versatility could prove useful to Carlo Ancelotti – Godfrey can operate as defensive midfielder as well as at centre-back.<\/p>\n

Godfrey looks to play the ball out from the back, while will suit the style of play that Ancelotti is trying to implement at Goodison Park. Despite Norwich’s relegation last season, the 22-year-old made an average of 55 passes per game,<\/a> recording an impressive completed average of 87.9%.<\/p>\n

While it is likely that he won’t be first-choice as soon as he joins, Godfrey could prove to be a shrewd investment by the Toffees. His sell-on value is only likely to increase as he develops and reaches the prime of his career.<\/p>\n
