Tottenham Hotspur<\/a> midfielder Dele Alli is set to stay with the club, despite numerous reports linking him away from North London. The most recent of those had been a potential move to Paris Saint-Germain<\/a>, but Guardian reporter Ed Aarons<\/a> says that Spurs have rejected a \u00a31.5 million loan bid from the French champions for the former MK Dons midfielder.<\/p>\n

A Tough Time for Alli<\/h3>\n

Alli has endured a difficult start to the campaign, completing just 45 minutes in the Premier League so far. He played the first half of the opening day defeat to Everton<\/a> but did not feature in the games against Southampton<\/a> and Newcastle United<\/a>. His only other minutes came in the Europa League against North Macedonian side Shkendija.<\/p>\n

Aarons reports that Spurs immediately rejected the offer from PSG. Boss Jose Mourinho wants the Englishman to stay and fight for his place, much like last season’s signing Tanguy Ndombele has. The Frenchman struggled to adapt to his new surroundings initially but now appears to be in favour with Mourinho after a positive start to the campaign.<\/p>\n

Moving to PSG for the season would have been a good way to get out for Alli. His preferred position of an advanced midfielder is currently not widely used in the Premier League, not least at Tottenham, who regularly use a 4-3-3 formation without the need for an advanced midfielder.<\/p>\n

However, in PSG’s current set-up<\/a>, Alli could have provided adequate back-up to _Neymar_ and Angel Di Maria in those positions.<\/p>\n

It’s currently not clear whether Alli will be involved tonight at Spurs take on Maccabi Haifa in the Europa League. Mourinho was not giving any clues either, telling reporters yesterday: “I cannot confirm Dele’s playing tomorrow but I cannot confirm he’s not playing.”<\/p>\n
