Everton<\/a> have reportedly made a bid of \u00a320 million-plus \u00a36 million in add-ons for Norwich central defender Ben Godfrey, according to The Athletics\u2019 Laurie Whitwell<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Toffees are understood to be testing the waters for the 22-year old defender after talks with Chelsea\u2019s Fikayo Tomori <\/a>entered a hesitant phase with Frank Lampard unsure on the status of Antonio Rudiger.<\/p>\n

According to the\u00a0Daily Telegraph\u2019s Matt Law<\/a>, Everton\u2019s bid of \u00a320 million-plus add-ons for Godfrey is in addition to waiting for the situation with Chelsea\u2019s Tomori.<\/p>\n

Everton Make Ben Godfrey Bid<\/h2>\n

Defensive Reinforcement<\/h3>\n

Manager Carlo Ancelotti has been keen to strengthen his defensive options with the likes of Tomori and Barcelona\u2019s Jean-Clair Todibo<\/a> all linked with a move. Mason Holgate is currently sidelined with foot damage with young defender Jarrod Branthwaite<\/a> also out with a foot injury, leaving Yerry Mina and Michael Keane the only fit centre-backs at the club.<\/p>\n

Everton, however, can bide their time with the Godfrey deal, with reports suggesting the Canaries are looking for a deal closer to \u00a330 million as the window for transfers between EFL clubs and Premier League sides runs until October 16. The deal for Tomori though would have to be done by Monday\u2019s looming deadline.<\/p>\n

Everton Splashing the Cash<\/h3>\n

Godfrey made 30 Premier League appearances in Norwich\u2019s relegation from the Premier League and made his England U-21 international debut in the same season.<\/p>\n

The English international has 12 months remaining on his contract at Carrow Road and a move to Goodison Park would confirm Ancelotti’s remarkable business. Everton have signed Colombian wizard James Rodriguez<\/a>, Abdoulaye Doucoure and Allan this window, leading to a perfect start to the Premier League season with three wins from three games.<\/p>\n

Ancelotti is keen to fix his defensive issues, however, after conceding a leaky 56 goals last season as they finished 12th<\/sup>.<\/p>\n
