Tottenham Hotspur<\/a> are interested in signing Chelsea<\/a> centre-back Antonio Rudiger<\/a>, according to Lyall Thomas at Sky Sports.\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n

The 27-year-old appears to be surplus to requirements at Chelsea this season. Rudiger has not featured in any of the Blues’ opening games.<\/p>\n

Tottenham could take advantage of the situation and make a move for the Germany international.<\/p>\n

Spurs Turn to Rudiger<\/h3>\n

Tottenham were reportedly interested in signing Inter Milan’s<\/a> Milan Skriniar<\/a> recently. However, both clubs could not agree on a suitable valuation. <\/a>Spurs have now turned to Rudiger as an alternative target.<\/p>\n

Rudiger would reportedly favour a loan<\/a> move. However, Chelsea may not be willing to offer their players to Premier League rivals.<\/p>\n

The move would be controversial for Spurs and Chelsea. Last season, Rudiger reported racist abuse from a group of Spurs fans during Chelsea’s 2-0 win at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium. Both the Metropolitan Police and Tottenham investigated the incident following the match.<\/p>\n

Rudiger Out of Favour<\/h3>\n

Despite making 28 appearances in all competitions for Chelsea last season, Rudiger has not been given a chance in the 2020\/21 season.<\/p>\n

The 27-year-old was an unused substitute in the opening day win over Brighton and Hove Albion<\/a>, but Rudiger has not made any of the Blues’ matchday squads since.<\/p>\n

New signing Thiago Silva<\/a> appears to be one of Lampard’s first-choice centre backs. Kurt Zouma<\/a>, Andreas Christensen<\/a> and Fikayo Tomori<\/a> have also featured ahead of Rudiger in Chelsea’s starting 11 this season.<\/p>\n

With little game time on offer at Stamford Bridge, Rudiger will be seeking first-team football ahead of the 2021 European Championships. Rudiger played 90 minutes in both of Germany’s Nations League fixtures earlier this month.<\/p>\n

Speaking ahead of Chelsea’s Carabao Cup tie against Spurs this evening, Lampard said<\/a>: \u201cI wouldn\u2019t assume anything and I wouldn\u2019t assume (anything about) Antonio or any players in the squad.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are not there until next Monday when the window shuts, so other than that, I would make no assumptions.\u201d<\/p>\n
