West Ham United<\/a> are exploring the possibility of bringing Arsenal<\/a> defender Calum Chambers<\/a> to the club on loan, according to Jacob Steinberg of The Guardian.<\/a><\/p>\n

The 25-year-old appears to be out of favour under Gunners boss Mikel Arteta, so a move away from the Emirates could suit both clubs, with the Hammers still looking for a central defender.<\/p>\n

Defensive Reinforcements Needed at West Ham<\/h3>\n

West Ham manager David Moyes has made no secrets about his determination to bring in defensive reinforcements. The Hammers tried and failed on numerous occasions to sign Burnley defender James Tarkowski,<\/a> and have switched targets as a result.<\/p>\n

Chambers, who can play both as a centre-back and also cover as a right-back, could be a decent acquisition for the club. At the moment, Moyes only has three regular recognised central defenders in Issa Diop<\/a>, Fabian Balbuena<\/a> and Angelo Ogbonna<\/a>, so the move would be a welcome addition.<\/p>\n

Steinberg also added that Swansea City defender Joe Roden was a possible transfer, but was overpriced, while Monaco full-back Djibril Sidibe was no longer a target.<\/p>\n

Another Loan Spell for Chambers<\/h3>\n

For Chambers, this would be his third loan spell away from Arsenal. In 2016\/17 he joined Middlesbrough, before spending one season at Fulham<\/a> in 2018\/19. However, he was relegated from the Premier League with both clubs – an omen he will be looking to avoid with the Hammers.<\/p>\n

Despite two relegations on his CV, Chambers has won the Community Shield and came runner up in the Carabao Cup during his time in north London.<\/p>\n

And despite recent moves away, the versatile defender has surpassed 100 Gunners appearances since his arrival from Southampton in 2014. He has also earned three England caps.<\/p>\n
