Sam Lammers<\/a> is set to sign for Atalanta from PSV Eindhoven, according to Fabrizio Romano<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The PSV centre-forward has reportedly agreed personal terms with the Italian club ahead of a \u20ac10 million move.<\/p>\n

Rumours linking Lammers with a move to Serie A first surfaced last week<\/a>. Now it appears the move in on the verge of completion.<\/p>\n

Atalanta were one of the success stories of Italian football last season. Gian Piero Gasperini’s side reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League, where they lost to eventual finalists Paris-Saint-Germain<\/a>. Domestically, they finished third in Serie A<\/a>, earning plaudits for an attacking playing style that yielded the division’s best goal difference.<\/p>\n

Now, they are set to bolster their forward ranks with the signing of 23-year-old Dutchman Lammers.<\/p>\n

What Sam Lammers Will Bring to Atalanta<\/h3>\n

Lammers only made ten appearances for PSV last season, scoring three goals.<\/p>\n

However, much of that owed to a serious knee injury sustained in a Champions League qualifying match against FC Basel last July. Though Lammers scored in the opening moments, he had to be withdrawn after just eight minutes of the tie.<\/p>\n

The injury caused him to miss 31 games the club across all competitions. Lammers was only able to feature in the final seven games of the Eredivisie season.<\/p>\n

Having returned to full fitness, Atalanta will hope to see him contribute towards Serie A’s most lethal attack. With 98 goals scored in the Italian top flight, Gasperini’s charges outscored champions Juventus by 22 goals last season.<\/p>\n

An injury-free Lammers was prolific for PSV in the 2018\/19 season. The forward plundered an impressive 19 goals – and provided five assists – in 35 games.<\/p>\n

If he is able to reach similar numbers this season, then Lammers will represent a shrewd piece of business for Atalanta, who might have unearthed one of Europe’s most exciting attacking players.<\/p>\n
