Those without Mohamed Salah<\/a> as their captain have fallen behind. However, one has to remember it is a marathon, not a sprint. The transfer window closes on October 5<\/a>. However, Premier League clubs will be able to perform transfers with EFL clubs till October 16. So, it would be prudent to wait till the end of the transfer window before playing the wildcard chip. Many deals take place in the final week of the window closing. In fact, more deals are done on deadline day than on any other day. So, one should be a bit patient and try to hold on to that Wildcard chip.<\/p>\n

Goalkeepers<\/h3>\n

Bernd Leno<\/a> and the Arsenal<\/a> defence looked good on gameweek one and they have a good-looking home matchup against West Ham United<\/a>. Another clean sheet is likely although the Hammers do have players that can hurt the gunners in Michail Antonio<\/a> and Jarrod Bowen<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Arsenal’s FA Cup and Community Shield hero Emiliano Martinez<\/a> has joined Aston Villa<\/a>. He could be a decent option although the Villa defence did not impress much last season. They face Chris Wilder’s Sheffield United<\/a> who will be looking to get their first points of the season after losing at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The most popular goalkeeper picks – Mathew Ryan<\/a> and Alex McCarthy –<\/a> did not do so well last week. However, they should not be discarded just yet. Ryan could keep a clean sheet at Newcastle United<\/a>. The last two matches between the two sides<\/a> both ended in goalless draws. Brighton & Hove Albion<\/a> looked decent against Chelsea<\/a> as well. Southampton<\/a> have a tough match against Tottenham Hotspur<\/a>. This kind of match provides opportunities for the keepers to get some save points though.<\/p>\n

Defenders<\/h3>\n

Timothy Castagne<\/a> had a very impressive debut for Leicester City<\/a> last week. However, this week’s opponents Burnley<\/a> will surely test the Leicester defence.<\/p>\n

Arsenal’s Gabriel Magalh\u00e3es also had a stellar debut. West Ham United should provide more threat than Fulham but a clean sheet is still possible. Kieran Tierney<\/a> is a good pick as well. Depending on David Luiz<\/a>‘s fitness, Rob Holding<\/a> might just keep his place in the side.<\/p>\n

Tariq Lamptey<\/a> impressed against his former club Chelsea on Monday night. The young fullback will have a good chance to shine against Newcastle United. Lamptey likes to go forward and got an assist last week. More of the same will be expected from him by his FPL owners.<\/p>\n

FPL managers should consider Manchester United<\/a> defenders this week. Aaron Wan-Bissaka<\/a> is probably the pick of their options.<\/p>\n

Everton’s<\/a> Lucas Digne<\/a> has been a solid performer in the last couple of seasons. He had a great game at Tottenham last week. The toffees have a nice-looking home fixture this week against West Bromwich Albion<\/a>. Traditionally, they have done badly in easy-looking home games but this is a new look Everton so Digne should definitely be considered despite his premium pricing.<\/p>\n

Trent Alexander-Arnold<\/a> had a petty poor match last week and will be looking to perform better this week. One should not drop him despite the lure of making funds available.<\/p>\n

Midfielders<\/h3>\n

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang<\/a> is the standout pick this week. He has just signed a new contract<\/a> and will be looking to celebrate that with a goal or two against West Ham United at the Emirates. Willian had a brilliant debut with three assists and should be considered as well.<\/p>\n

Mohamed Salah<\/a> had an amazing start to the season with a hat-trick against Leeds United last week. Chelsea away is a tricky fixture but their defence is hardly solid. So, there should be chances for Salah and also Sadio Mane<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Bruno Fernandes<\/a> is a dangerous player to go without any gameweek. A home game against Crystal Palace makes him even more appealing. Will the red devils be a bit rusty though?<\/p>\n

Manchester City <\/a>also start their season this week. They have a tricky away match at Wolves so it might be better to wait before bringing their premium players in.<\/p>\n

Leeds United<\/a> midfielders definitely come into the reckoning after their impressive return back to the Premier League. Mateusz Klich<\/a> and Jack Harrison<\/a> looked good against Liverpool. Leeds beat Fulham 3-0<\/a> in June where Harrison scored.<\/p>\n

Another impressive debutant last week was James Rodr\u00edguez<\/a>. The Colombian played well and controlled the game even though that did not translate into FPL points. That might change this week though.<\/p>\n

Strikers<\/h3>\n

Jamie Vardy<\/a> started his campaign to retain the golden boot with a brace last week. He scored against Burnley last season and is definitely a good shout this week.<\/p>\n

Patrick Bamford<\/a> scored last week at Anfield. He needs to keep performing to keep his place in the side. Bamford scored against Fulham last time so he should be confident going into this match.<\/p>\n

Dominic Calvert-Lewin<\/a> and Richarlison both played well last week and could get a big haul this week.<\/p>\n

Anthony Martial<\/a> must be considered strongly from Manchester United. The only question is whether they might be a bit rusty.<\/p>\n

Alexandre Lacazette<\/a> should keep his place in the side after scoring last week. He could do well also.<\/p>\n

Despite Leeds United being favourites against Fulham<\/a>, there is every chance the cottagers could score at Elland Road. That should mean chances for Aleksandar Mitrovic<\/a>.<\/p>\n
