Trent Alexander-Arnold<\/a> has heaped praise on his fellow Liverpool<\/a> right-back, calling Neco Williams<\/a> a “role model” who can continue to inspire the club’s academy players.<\/p>\n

Trent Alexander-Arnold – “Young Players Will Look up to Williams”<\/h2>\n

A Role Model For the Academy Players<\/h3>\n

In an interview with the club’s website<\/a>, Alexander-Arnold made it clear that he expects Williams to continue to shine this season, having made 11 first-team appearances in the last campaign.<\/p>\n

\u201cNeco is an amazing talent, he is someone who we all look to as being someone who can play for the club for a long amount of time and will have a bright future no matter what,\u201d Alexander-Arnold said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think he is on the right path, for sure. Mentally, he\u2019s ahead of people his age, he\u2019s getting the right experience in training; playing against the best players in the world can only improve you.”<\/p>\n

Alexander-Arnold, who also graduated from Liverpool’s academy, believes Neco Williams can be a role model for the club’s younger players.<\/p>\n

\u201cAll the young players at the club will be looking up to people like Neco and trying to push to be in that position to be up at Melwood and training with the first team all the time.”<\/p>\n

Breakthrough Season for Williams Puts Pressure on Alexander-Arnold<\/h3>\n

Williams enjoyed a breakthrough season in the 2019\/20 campaign. In addition to his Premier League winner’s medal, he also made his international debut for Wales.<\/p>\n

The 19-year-old has enjoyed such success that Liverpool Academy boss Alex Inglethorpe has already called for him to pressure Alexander-Arnold<\/a> for the right-back position.<\/p>\n

Alexander-Arnold believes that will benefit both Williams and himself:<\/p>\n

\u201cIt can only help me and everyone else if you\u2019ve got someone who wants to take your shirt. That always happens, it\u2019s football. You can\u2019t ever rest and get complacent with your place because things can change so quickly.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo, it\u2019s about making sure everyone is ready to play all the time. Everyone is pushing themselves to 100 per cent in training. That can only help the squad as a whole and make sure everyone is at their best all the time.\u201d<\/p>\n
