Lyon forward Bertrand Traore<\/a> is set to undergo a medical at Aston Villa<\/a> over the coming days after the clubs agreed on a fee for the 25-year-old.<\/p>\n

Sky Sports are reporting<\/a> that the \u00a317 million deal will see Traore link up with Dean Smith’s side over the coming days.<\/p>\n

Aston Villa Active in New Striker Search<\/h3>\n

The Birmingham club have already broken their transfer record with the signing of Ollie Watkins<\/a> from Brentford this summer, with Watkins putting pen to paper on a five-year deal with the club. However,\u00a0 Villa are still looking to strengthen in the attacking areas.<\/p>\n

Traore made 35 appearances across all competitions last season, chipping in with four goals and five assists. One of those goals came against Portuguese club Benfica in the Champions League. Lyon defied the odds in reaching the semi-finals of the competition, where they were eliminated by eventual winners Bayern Munich<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Burkina Faso international moved to Ligue 1<\/a> from former club Chelsea<\/a> three years ago. He is now set to reunite with former team-mate John Terry<\/a>, who is assistant manager at Villa Park.<\/p>\n

The arrival of Traore could spell trouble for Brazilian forward Wesley. He has struggled since his \u00a322.5 million arrival in 2019, scoring only five times.<\/p>\n

Villa Ramping Up Transfer Activity<\/h3>\n

Traore looks unlikely to be the final player to join Aston Villa in this transfer window. The club have had a \u00a316 million bid accepted<\/a> for Arsenal<\/a> goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In addition to Ollie Watkins’s arrival, Matty Cash<\/a> has also joined the club on a five-year contract, having signed from Nottingham Forest.<\/p>\n

Villa ensured Premier League survival on the final day of last season. Dean Smith’s side are now focused on consolidating their top-flight status over this campaign. They will look to improve on last season’s 17th placed finish, and are utilising the market in order to put the first building blocks in place for them to do it.<\/p>\n
