Nuno Espirito Santo has agreed<\/a> a new long-term contract with Wolverhampton Wanderers<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Portuguese manager has agreed terms over a new deal that will keep him at the club for a further three years.<\/p>\n

Wolves Making Strides in The Premier League<\/h3>\n

Wolves<\/a> begin their Premier League campaign against Sheffield United<\/a> on Monday 13 September. The announcement of his new contract is the perfect way to start the season.<\/p>\n

The 46-year-old was appointed as the club’s manager in July 2017. It has been a remarkable three years, as he has gone on to establish his side in the top half of the Premier League<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Indeed, last season saw Santo lead Wolves to the quarter-finals of the Europa League, where they were defeated by eventual winners Sevilla. Though the club failed to achieve European football for the 2020\/21 campaign, the manager has been rewarded for his work over the past three years with this new contract.<\/p>\n

The former Porto player and manager had one-year to run on his existing deal. However, club bosses have reportedly been keen for him to extend for some time.<\/p>\n

Santo Now Looking to ‘Complete’ Wolves Squad<\/h3>\n

Wolves recently made club-record signing Fabio Silva<\/a> their third summer addition in the space of a week. Santo, however, has stressed that his squad is “not complete yet” as he prepares to start the new season.<\/p>\n

Matt Doherty<\/a> has left the club for Tottenham Hotspur, and Wolves have so far been unsuccessful in their pursuit of Arsenal’s Ainsley Maitland-Niles<\/a> as the full-back’s replacement.<\/p>\n

Following back-to-back seventh-placed finishes in the Premier League, there has been talk of the club being able to mount a top four push this term.<\/p>\n

Santo is keen to ignore such expectations, insisting that his focus is not on what people outside the club have to say.<\/p>\n

“Pressure can build if you allow it to be part of your day,” the 46-year-old told the BBC<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“If it is not part of your day, it is not a problem. Fortunately we have been gates at Compton [training ground] and we can block everything out.”<\/p>\n
