Tottenham Hotspur<\/a> have had an offer for Torino<\/a> striker Andrea Belotti<\/a> rejected, Gianluca Di Marzio reports<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Spurs’ pursuit of a striker continues as Jose Mourinho looks for another central striker to provide cover for and compete with Harry Kane<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Tottenham Hotspur’s Belotti Bid Rejected<\/h2>\n

Torino Not Interested in Loan With Option to Buy<\/h3>\n

Tottenham’s bid for the 26-year-old Italian forward was one for an initial loan, with an option to buy.<\/p>\n

Spurs’ were willing to offer \u20ac50 million for Belotti, to be paid after the loan spell, should they wish to retain his services.<\/p>\n

It is claimed Torino have rejected this offer and informed Tottenham they would only discuss offers for a definitive sale.<\/p>\n

From Most-Wanted to That Guy in Italy<\/h3>\n

On average, Belotti scored a goal in every two games last season. 22 goals in 44 games to be particularly specific. Belotti captains the Serie A<\/a> side that he has sported the shirt for just over five years now.<\/p>\n

Belotti had a healthy first season with Torino, scoring 12 goals in 37 appearances, and assisting six. However, he really made his mark in 2016\/17. In that season, he forced his name onto the radar of many European giants. Having scored 26 Serie A goals in 35 appearances, many were on alert.<\/p>\n

For whatever reason, no move ever came to fruition. In the following seasons, his goals did not dry out but they weren’t shouting as loud to the biggest clubs on the planet as they were in 2016\/17. He was no longer the flavour of the month. Quietly perhaps, he has continued to consistently deliver for Torino, in a side where he may not be provided with the service he would get in a team challenging for greater reward.<\/p>\n

In all Belotti’s time at Torino, he has scored 92 goals in 192 games, a very good output. Andrea Belotti has also become an experienced Italy<\/a> international, scoring 9 goals in his 28 caps.<\/p>\n

Why Spurs Want Belotti<\/h3>\n

He would undoubtedly be a good option for Spurs, however, whether they are prepared to pay up, and pay up now, is another matter. Torino’s willingness to discuss a definitive sale suggests his time at the club is approaching its end.<\/p>\n

Whilst any striker joining Mourinho’s side would probably have to serve as number two to Harry Kane, most of the top clubs nowadays need more than one top striker.<\/p>\n

Harry Kane has a history of picking up injuries in the season and it always pays to have another option. Currently, they tend to rely on the likes of Son Heung-min<\/a> and Lucas Moura<\/a> to fill the gap. It would be much more beneficial to have a natural striker, who scores goals, to fill in.<\/p>\n

Having the option to turn to someone else when things aren’t going well is something Tottenham might never have had with Kane. He’s always been the only option. An addition like Belotti could also push Kane further. Competition is always healthy.<\/p>\n
