He has also featured in al three of Wycombe’s pre-season friendlies, ahead of the Championship season commencing this weekend.

Free Agent David Stockdale Returns to Adams Park

Third Spell at Adams Park

Stockdale returns for his third spell at the club. He was first loaned out to Wycombe in November 2018, where he appeared twice, before parent club Birmingham City, shipped him off to fellow League One side Coventry City.

The 34-year-old then returned to Adams Park for the second half of last season. As a result of that, Gareth Ainsworth wants him around his squad. The Championship is new territory for the Chairboys and the majority of the squad, so Stockdale’s knowledge of England’s second tier could prove invaluable.

Stockdale’s expertise and long-lived career could also benefit new-signing Curtis Anderson. The young goalkeeper has considerable talent and has represented England’s youth teams. Under Stockdale’s guidance, Anderson can continue to grow and develop, whilst competing for first-team action.

What Was Said?

Speaking to the club website Gareth Ainsworth was evidently delighted with his latest signing.

“Stocko is an important addition to the squad and I’m delighted that he’s agreed to join on a permanent deal,” he said. “David is really suited to us in terms of his character and hard work ethic he shows in training.

“He has a huge amount of experience at this level and he still has a lot to give.
