Plymouth Argyle<\/a> have completed the permanent signing of midfielder George Cooper<\/a> from League One rivals Peterborough United<\/a> for an undisclosed fee.<\/p>\n

The 23-year-old had a successful loan spell with the Pilgrims last season and has now agreed to a three-year deal with the Devon club.<\/p>\n

George Cooper Returns to Plymouth Argyle<\/h2>\n

Career so Far<\/h3>\n

Cooper will provide Plymouth with some useful third-tier experience as they prepare to start the new season in League One.<\/p>\n

His professional career began with Crewe Alexandra<\/a>, having risen through their youth ranks. In September 2014, he made his first-team debut for the Railwaymen at the age of just 17.<\/p>\n

From that point onwards, Cooper featured fairly regularly for Crewe for nearly three-and-a-half years, racking up 142 appearances in total.<\/p>\n

In January 2018, the Warrington-born midfielder moved east to join Peterborough, but did not play as regularly as he would have liked for the Posh in League One.<\/p>\n

Towards the end of the 2019 summer transfer window, Cooper was loaned out to Plymouth, where he found a team that suited him very well. Under Ryan Lowe, he operated predominantly as a left wing-back, and provided 12 assists last term as Argyle earned promotion after the final league table was decided on points-per-game.<\/p>\n

Having already familiarised himself with the surroundings at the club last season, Cooper should slot into the Plymouth side nicely as they look to establish themselves in the third-tier.<\/p>\n

What Was Said?<\/h3>\n

Speaking to the Pilgrims\u2019 official club website<\/a>, Cooper revealed that it was a no-brainer to return to Home Park.<\/p>\n

He said: \u201cI always wanted to come back, from what we did last season, I thought we would\u2019ve gone on to win it [Sky Bet League Two] anyway. Hopefully we can carry that on this season.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m made up it\u2019s all over the line now. Over the last week we\u2019ve been in talks, it\u2019s all just moved quickly, and I couldn\u2019t be any happier to be here.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe club is only going in one direction, as you can see with the new stand. The way we played last season, we were on a good run. We need to carry that on this season, and it all starts this Saturday.\u201d<\/p>\n
