Charlton Athletic\u2019s<\/a> immediate future could be resolved soon after a court rejected an injunction prospective owner Paul Elliott was attempting to enforce.<\/p>\n

Elliott has been attempting to block any sale of the club after he failed the EFL\u2019s fit and proper directors test.<\/p>\n

The rejection of his injunction means chairman Tahnoon Nimer can now discuss the sale of the club with a third party.<\/p>\n

Danish businessman Thomas Sangaard has openly confirmed<\/a> his interest in buying the South London club.<\/p>\n

Court Ruling Clears the Way for Tahnoon Nimer to Sell<\/h3>\n

Charlton Athletic\u2019s future has been uncertain for several months following the collapse in relations between Nimer and Matt Southall. Their breakdown saw the club sold to a consortium led by Paul Elliott.<\/p>\n

Elliott initially brought the club in June, as well as the company East Street Investments. However, the EFL intervened and Elliot consequently failed the fit and proper directors test. Only two of his advisors past the test, having been running the club while the takeover saga rumbles on.<\/p>\n

Paul Elliott was hoping to take out an injunction blocking any sale of the club to an interested third party. However, today\u2019s court ruling means Nimer can now discuss a sale with other interested parties.<\/p>\n

Nimer is in discussions with Danish businessman Thomas Sandgaard, who has openly admitted his desire to buy the Addicks. The Dane wants to buy all aspects of the club, including The Valley and training ground, which are owned by former Charlton owner Roland Duchatalet. The Danish businessman has met with Nimer, the Charlton fans and manager Lee Bowyer. The court ruling today means Sandgaard can now agree a deal and complete his takeover of the club. However, he will have to pass the EFL\u2019s fit and proper directors test.<\/p>\n

The Danish businessman was at the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium this evening watching the team as the ruling was heard. Sangaard watched a very inexperienced Charlton side lose their opening Leasing.com trophy game to London rivals AFC Wimbledon<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Today\u2019s ruling is a positive step towards a stable future under prospective new owner Thomas Sandgaard. Their future could be resolved this week according to Sky\u2019s Ben Ransom<\/a> who has been told by Sandgaard himself he hopes a deal can be concluded this week.<\/p>\n
