Aston Villa<\/a> and Newcastle United<\/a> have stepped up their interest in Bournemouth<\/a> striker Callum Wilson.<\/p>\n

Callum Wilson on Dean Smith’s and Steve Bruce’s Shortlist<\/h3>\n

The Daily Mail<\/a> has reported that Callum Wilson<\/a> and Brentford’s Ollie Watkins<\/a> are two men who are wanted by Dean Smith at Aston Villa.<\/p>\n

But, with Brentford holding out for a \u00a325 Million asking price, that move is looking less likely, with Wilson their number one target.<\/p>\n

But Villa have competition for the Bournemouth striker. Newcastle United have also declared their interest in Wilson according to Sky Sports<\/a>.<\/p>\n

There’s been no official bid yet from the Magpies, but it’s believed a player-plus-cash deal would see Matt Ritchie move to Dorset in exchange for Wilson.<\/p>\n

Wilson Believed to Want a Move Away From Bournemouth<\/h3>\n

Callum Wilson has been an asset for Bournemouth since he arrived at the club in 2014.<\/p>\n

His 20 goals in his debut season fired the Cherries to the Championship<\/a> title and their first-ever promotion to the Premier League.<\/p>\n

He has scored a further 41 goals for Bournemouth in the top flight, including 14 in the 2018-19 season.<\/p>\n

His goalscoring heroics for the club earned him a call up to the England squad, where he scored on his debut against the United States in November 2018.<\/p>\n

But with Bournemouth relegated to the Football League<\/a>, Wilson is rumoured to want a move away from the club to help boost his chances of a place in the England squad for next summer’s European Championships.<\/p>\n

Jason Tindall’s side will be desperate to hold on to Wilson this summer. The club have already sold Aaron Ramsdale<\/a> and Nathan Ake<\/a> in the current transfer window and won’t want to lose any more key players, as they look to win promotion back to the top flight.<\/p>\n

The English Football season returns on September 11, with the transfer window shutting on October 5.<\/p>\n
