Matt Doherty<\/a> has moved one step closer to completing a transfer to Tottenham Hotspur<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Wolverhampton Wanderers<\/a> right-back will join Jose Mourinho’s side this summer. The Daily Telegraph is reporting<\/a> that the Midlands club have accepted the \u00a315 million bid made by Spurs chairman Daniel Levy.<\/p>\n

Nuno Espirito Santo Happy to Sell<\/h3>\n

Though the loss of Doherty will come as a blow for Wolves, it is being reported that both manager Nuno Espirito Santo<\/a> and chairman Jeff Shi are united in their decision to sell.<\/p>\n

The Republic of Ireland international has been with Wolves since 2012. His recent displays have caught the eye of Jos\u00e9 Mourinho.<\/a><\/p>\n

Over the course of a long campaign with his club, Doherty made 50 appearances across all competitions. The 28-year-old demonstrated his attacking threat from the full-back position with seven goals and five assists, a contribution that will not have been lost on Mourinho.<\/p>\n

Wolves are working on a transfer for Arsenal<\/a> youngster Ainsley Maitland-Niles<\/a>, who could be signed as Doherty’s replacement.<\/p>\n

Serge Aurier<\/a>‘s Future in Doubt<\/h3>\n

The signing of Doherty could spell the end of Serge Aurier<\/a>‘s Tottenham career. The Ivory Coast defender joined the club in 2017 and has two years left to run on his contract.<\/p>\n

Sky Sports News are reporting<\/a> that AC Milan<\/a>, Bayer Leverkusen and Monaco are all interested in the former Paris-Saint-Germain<\/a> player.<\/p>\n

Another of the club’s right-backs, Kyle Walker-Peters<\/a>, was sold to Southampton<\/a> earlier in the window<\/p>\n

Aurier was given regular licence to roam forward under Mourinho last season. However, he flattered to deceive with his end product. No full-back in the Premier League has registered as many touches in the opposition penalty box as Matt Doherty over the last two seasons (203). Perhaps the Portuguese manager has found a man who can add a new dimension to his team’s attack, as well as offering key defensive stability when required.<\/p>\n
